So, this is my first attempt at "blogging".  This is Hyrum's missionary blog and he thought it would be a great way for our family and friends to keep up with him as he serves his mission.  I think it will also be good for me.

I think I am dealing with Hyrum going on a mission by "not" dealing with him going on a mission :) He has been a huge part of my life for 18 years and I can't imagine not being able to hug him for 2 years.  At the same time, this is what we have raised him to do.  Blaine and I have raised him so that he might serve the Lord with all his heart, might, mind and strength.  So we are also very humbled by his unwavering commitment to serve.

I love him so much and find myself emotional at odd times of the day, with tears in my eyes for no apparent reason.  Today he and Blaine are out helping a friend with his deck, so I put on Hyrum's "Missionary" play list on the computer while I baked in the kitchen.  The music gave me much comfort and peace.  I'm sure I will have his music on more often after he leaves.  Hyrum loves inspiring church music and so do I.

We still have a few more weeks before he leaves, but I know as soon as school starts, the time will fly by.  I am grateful to a loving Heavenly Father who knew I would need some extra time after the fair to be with Hyrum before he left on his mission.
